Do NOT eat pasta, it makes you fat! Do NOT eat fruit, it makes you fat! Do NOT eat avocado, it makes you fat! Do NOT eat bread, it makes you fat! Do NOT eat full fat dairy, it makes you fat! Do NOT eat potatoes, it makes you fat! NO!! You continue eating your pasta, breads and full fat cheddar cheese! NOTHING in this world will make you fat... unless you consume crazy amounts within a 24-hour period. Even too much broccoli can make you fat, although, you'll have to consume nauseating amounts of it for that to happen!
I often hear people "ban" certain foods, or even an entire food group on its own, like all carbohydrates (especially starches) or all dairy products. This is definitely NOT necessary or advisable. Unless you have sufficient medical reasons to exclude certain foods from your diet, you can keep eating what your heart desires; just keep the portion sizes in check. No food is inherently bad, what may make it "bad" are the quantities you consume it in! Having 2 pieces of fruit per day is good, having 28 pieces of it per day, not so much. If you eat some cheddar cheese here and there on your foods, that's good, but eating a whole block of cheddar cheese per day is not such a good idea! Having 1 burger & fries per day is good IF, and only IF, you didn't consume too much calories throughout the day already! There IS a place for any kind of food you can think of in your diet, you just have to keep the portion sizes in check. If you are trying to lose weight, you can do one of two things to keep seeing results but also keep eating deliciously:
It's always advisable to eat healthy the majority of the time but that doesn't mean you have to eat boring, bland foods! Spice things up a bit.. there's no need for cardboard whole wheat pasta or brick hard rye bread. Use condiments, use sauces, use oils and yummy seasonings. Nothing is inherently "bad" for you. just make sure you're not eating "just junk". Keep it simple, keep it delicious. Do you make yourself suffer and starve? If yes, stop doing it! Eat the foods you enjoy, because it can honestly NOT make you fat if you consume it in reasonable quantities. Just be mindful about what you’re consuming and how much, but don’t put those yummy foods on a “no-no” list =)
